BUFFALO SPORTS INFO

Buffalo's Ralph Wilson StadiumAsk anyone who is from Buffalo or has visited, and they will tell you that it is much more than snow, buffalo wings and Niagara Falls.

New York's second largest city boasts a great nightlife, fantastic tailgating, and some of most loyal sports fans in the country.  Upstate New York will get a little cold, but for eight months out of the year, the weather is great.

Sports-wise, the city is most closely associated with the Buffalo Bills, who play in Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.  The city's other major league team is the NHL's Sabres.  One block from the Sabres home (HSBC Arena) is Dunn Tire Park, the fantastic home of the AAA Bisons.

Buffalo will also go easy on your wallet; hotels and bars are inexpensive.

FOOD

You can get Buffalo Wings only in Buffalo; everywhere else, they are just chicken wings in some kind of sauce.  There are some great Italian and French restaurants around town as well.

Check our restaurants and bars page for more info.

BUFFALO ATTRACTIONS

If you want to go to Canada for the day, Fort Erie is only about 5 minutes away, and Niagara Falls is only about a twenty minute drive.  The Albright Knox Art Gallery is located right downtown, and has a great restaurant on the premises.  The Buffalo Zoo is the third oldest in America.  There also is a Six Flags less than an hour away.

NIGHTLIFE

Buffalo's nightlife centers around Chippewa Street; the streets in the area fill with bar hoppers on Friday and Saturday nights.  The Waterfront District, on the lake near HSBC Arena and Dunn Tire Park, is also a good nightspot.

If you can get a designated driver or you have people between the ages of 19 and 21 in your group, Fort Erie and Niagara in Canada offer a great nightlife, 19 year drinking age and beer with higher alcohol content.

Check our restaurants and bars page for more info.

TRANSPORTATION

Its easy to get around the downtown area on foot and the Metro Rail, but you will want to rent a car for getting to Ralph Wilson Stadium if you're in town for football or to head into Canada.  The subway offers a fare free zone around HSBC Arena if you don't want to deal with parking or driving home.

WEATHER

Buffalo is very cold in the winter; dress appropriately.  Summer temperatures are usually in the 80's.

Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation.
