Chicago Blues Festival
The Chicago Blues Festival is held each June in Grant
Park, on the Lake Michigan waterfront downtown. The festival is
the largest free-admission blues festival in the world, and attracts
legendary performers each year.
Taste of Chicago
Taste of Chicago offers a chance to sample the menus
of Chicago's finest restaurants. The event runs across two
weekends, usually around July 4th (the 2001 dates were June 29-July 8).
Taste of Chicago is held in Grant Park, on the Lake
Michigan waterfront. Admission is free, with food tickets
available at a cost of $6 for 10 tickets (he number of tickets required
varies by restaurant). Each restaurant sets up a stand and offers
sample portions of various menu items. There is also live music on
several stages.
PGA Tour - Western Open
The Western Open is held each July at Cog Hill Golf
and Country Club in Lemont, IL, about 20 miles southwest of Chicago.
The tournament is the oldest event on the PGA Tour, and is held in early
July each year.

Auto Racing
With the opening of
Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet in 2001, Chicago is suddenly host to
races in two NASCAR divisions, plus IRL and CART.
