| There's things to be found here, but it's not a nice place. You won't be tempted to hang around a few extra days. :D

| i grew up thinking rather bad things about Houston. Heck, i thought that about Texas in general thinking it was about rednecks, cowboy boots, and grazeland. I was actually surprised when i visited Houston. It's actually a big city with alot of opportunity. There was a different mix of races and restaurants. Very diverse and exciting. To the poster who said that Houston doesn't have class, try the Uptown/Galleria area where the median cost of living is even higher than Beverly Hills, CA. Not to mention the Houston Galleria, which is surrounded by many upscale stores. The Galleria is the 5th largest shopping complex in the nation. People do unfairly give Houston a bum rap when it has just about everything you'd expect to see in any other major city.

| Houston is my favorite place to visit when i'm in Texas.
to say that houston doesn't have any history or beauty is just like saying Houston doesn't have a skyline.
The many bayous (i.e. Buffalo Bayou), parks, bay areas, and greenspace are plentiful beautiful areas in Houston. If you want history, visit the Houston Heights, The Wards, The Historic District.
If someone wants to give it a 10, that doesn't make it any less realistic than a small-minded person who gives it a 1.
Houston is on the rise. I really think people who don't jack about the city need to stop dogging it.
