NEW ORLEANS HORNETS BASKETBALL TICKETS
New Orleans is home to the Saints of the NFL, who play at the Superdome downtown. The dome hosts the Sugar Bowl each year, and is also a frequent host to the Super Bowl and Final Four. The NBA's Hornets play at New Orleans Arena, adjacent to the Superdome. New Orleans is fairly compact, with the airport about 15 miles west. As for expenses, it is not so much the prices but the excess that make the town slightly expensive; even cheap food and beer becomes pricey when consumed in large quantities. Hotels in New Orleans are no more expensive than in other cities (for normal weekends, ie, not Super Bowl or Final Four), and there are plenty of hotels to choose from. If you're going to Mardi Gras or a similar event, don't try to save money by staying near the airport or outside of town; the cab rates will eat up your savings each night. Your best bet is to stay downtown or in the Quarter, even if the room rate is a little higher. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how other sports fans rate New Orleans!! FOOD New Orleans is well known for its Cajun cuisine. There are great restaurants all over town, featuring jambalaya, Po' Boys, fish, shrimp, and crawdads. Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for the best offerings in the Crescent City! NEW ORLEANS ATTRACTIONS The French Quarter is full of shops, in addition to bars that never close. There is a D-Day museum and a Mardi Gras museum in town, and the Aquarium and IMAX theater are on the river just outside the Quarter. The Riverwalk, on the Mississippi at the end of Canal Street, is full of shops and restaurants. Jazzland Theme Park is also nearby. Or, if you want to drink all day, just walk up and down Bourbon Street with a beer in your hand. NIGHTLIFE
Check the Restaurants and Bars and Gambling pages for more info. TRANSPORTATION You can easily get by without a car in New Orleans, provided you are limiting yourself to the French Quarter and downtown areas. It will cost you about $10-15 per day to park a car, while a cab to and from the airport is $25-$35 each way depending on the number of people in the cab. If you want to venture outside the Quarter, you can get by on the bus or trolley, but a car may be better. The Superdome is a slight walk from the Quarter, so unless you plan to tailgate a car is unnecessary for events held there. WEATHER New Orleans is very hot and humid in the summer, and stays warm in winter. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation. |
