Ybor City Bars
& Restaurants
Ybor
City is the hot spot in Tampa, and is also a historical landmark. With so
many restaurants and bars, there is something for everyone. Live music and dance clubs
dominate the landscape, but there are also plenty of upscale
cocktail joints and traditional watering holes.

1811
15th St.
The
8th
Avenue Grill is a great place to go for late-night cocktails
or for dinner before a night out in Ybor City. There is
plenty of seating at the T-shaped bar, and live music in the open air section.
|
|
Ritz
Pool & Pub
American

East 7th Ave.
Right
next door to The Masquerade is Ritz Pool & Pub. Along with the pool tables, there is a juke box,

this is the place to go.
|
Tampa
Bay Brewing Company
Brewery

not in the heart of Ybor, the Tampa Bay Brewing Company is a

during happy hour.
|
|
Green
Iguana
Caribbean
/ Live Music
1708
7th Ave.
In
the heart of Ybor City, the Green Iguana offers live music
nightly. The menu is great, with superb Cuban and
Grouper sandwiches. If you want to eat, you need to
get there fairly early, it gets very crowded as the night
progresses.
|
Harpo's
Dance
Club
1805
E. 7th Ave.
Harpo's
is a dance club inside, but there are also two patio bars
with live music if the club scene is not for you.
|
Downtown
Tampa Bars &
Restaurants
There
are some great spots within walking distance of the
St. Pete Times Forum,
and a few other spots around town that should not be missed.
|
Hattrick's
Irish

South Franklin St.
If
you don't want to deal with the crowds and hype of Ybor

There are plenty of TV's to catch a game, and there is also
live music on some nights.
|
Newk's
Sports
514
Channelside Dr.
Before
after, or during and event at the Ice Palace, Newk's is the
place to go. It has a typical bar food menu, but
everything is great and the service will get you out before
the events start. The outside patio features live
music on occasion.
|
|
Outpost Bar & Grill
Sports
412 S. Morgan St.
The
Outpost is a great place to grab a bite and a drink before
an event at the Ice Palace.

Bars
& Restaurants
Elsewhere
in Tampa
Kojak's
and Whiskey Joe's are a little secluded from the rest of the hot
spots in town (and each other), but either is worth the trip.
|
Kojak's House of Ribs
Southern
2808
West Gandy Blvd.
Its
hard to find a place anywhere that has better spare ribs and
barbecue than Kojak's. A homey atmosphere inside and
seating outside on the porch as well. Reasonably
priced with generous portions.
|
Whiskey
Joe's
Tropical
2500
N. Rocky Point Dr..
Whiskey
Joe's features an outdoor deck.
There is also seating inside, but the deck is right on the
bay so who would want to sit inside? The place is
usually packed on Sunday nights, a good place to go after a
Bucs game
|
St.
Petersburg Bars &
Restaurants
If
you go to Tampa Bay for a baseball game, you are going to have to
come to St. Petersburg at some point. The Devil Rays play
indoors at Tropicana Field.
There are enough places to go in St. Pete, but the hotel decision
is whether to stay in Tampa and come here for the games, or stay
here and go to Tampa a few times.
|
Ferg's
Sports Bar & Grill
Sports
Bar
1320
Central Ave.
Before,
during, and after the game, Ferg's is the place to go.
It is right next to Tropicana Field
and features indoor, patio and open air deck seating.
They serve standard sports bar fare of burgers and wings,
and boast plenty
of TV's and a good atmosphere.
|
Extra
Innings Ballpark Cafe
Sports
Bar
1850
Central Ave.
If
you don't have tickets, this is the place to go. Extra
Innings Ballpark Cafe is an old movie theater with 22
television sets, and the games are on the movie screen as
well. If you do have tickets, its a solid place to
pregame.
|
Clearwater Bars
& Restaurants
Clearwater
is right on the gulf and features many outdoor beach bars with
Tiki music, frozen drinks and bathing suits. Clearwater is
the Florida that most people expect to see while they are in town.
|
Shephard's Backyard Tiki Bar
Tiki
Bar / Live Music
1601
South Gulfview Blvd
The
seating is lawn furniture and the dress is extremely
casual. Shephard's has indoor seating, but out back is
nothing more than a deck over the water. Live rock and
reggae bands are standard on the weekends.
|
Palm
Pavilion Bar
Beach
Bar
10
Bay Esplanade
If
you don't want to drag your cooler to the beach, just come
to Palm Pavilion. It shuts down around 10PM, but live
bands are featured in late afternoon and evenings.
|
|
Hooters
Sports
2800
Gulf to Bay Blvd
This
is the Original Hooters Restaurant. Locations in Tampa
and St. Petersburg followed closely
behind, but the Clearwater location is the only place the
locals go to.
