WASHINGTON WIZARDS BASKETBALL TICKETS
Washington is home to franchises in each of the four major sports. The Redskins play at FedEx Field in Landover, MD; the Nationals will play at RFK Stadium until the 2008 season; and the Wizards and Capitals play at the Verizon Center downtown. DC is served by three airports. Reagan Airport is right downtown, while Dulles and Baltimore-Washington are about 30-40 minutes. If you're staying downtown, any of the three will do, but if you're staying in College Park or Landover, your best bet is BWI. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how other sports fans rate the Washington area!! FOOD You can get just about anything in Washington. There are so many different cultures represented in the town that every possible type of food has at least a few restaurants. Georgetown has a lot to offer in this department. Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for the best offerings in town! WASHINGTON ATTRACTIONS There is too much to do in DC to even begin to list it here. The mall is the best place to start, where the White House, US Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, and the Smithsonian are all located. Georgetown is a good place to look around as well, with its many bars, restaurants, and shops. If you want to head into Virginia, Old Town Alexandria is a good destination for shops, restaurants, and bars. There is also Six Flags amusement park in Landover, north of the city; be sure to check for dates of operation. NIGHTLIFE DC offers a wide variety of nighttime options. Adams Morgan, Georgetown, and Old Town Alexandria are well known for their bars and restaurants, and downtown DC has plenty of bars as well. You can find everything from dance clubs to drinking holes in Washington. Check the Restaurants and Bars page for more info. TRANSPORTATION Washington has an excellent Metro system that can get you anywhere in or around the city. There are also trains to Baltimore if you plan to catch an O's game. Driving is a different story; the traffic is notoriously bad, and if you don't know EXACTLY where you're going, you will get lost in a matter of seconds. Unless you are planning on driving to a destination out of town, do not rent a car. If you are going to a Redskins game to tailgate, a car will obviously be needed, but we recommend parking it until Sunday morning and leaving very early for the game. If you fly into Reagan, you can almost walk into downtown; a cab will be a few dollars. Dulles and BWI, however, are a long way away, so a car may be cheaper even if you leave it at a hotel all weekend. WEATHER Washington is very humid in the summer, and while it can get cold in winter it won't get too bad. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation. |
