ATLANTA BRAVES BASEBALL TICKETS
In addition to the four major sports teams, Atlanta hosts numerous other sporting events. The Georgia Dome has hosted Super Bowls, college football and basketball championships, and Olympic events. Atlanta Motor Speedway hosts two Nextel Cup races, as well as Busch and IRL races. Additionally, Atlanta hosts the SEC football championship each year. Atlanta can be an expensive city; the downtown hotels are a little pricey, and food and beverage costs can run up quickly. Offsetting this somewhat are the relatively low airfares into Atlanta from many cities. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how other sports fans rate Atlanta!! FOOD The food in Atlanta is average. The city is not really known for any specific cuisine, and despite its Southern location, you won't find a whole lot of what you would consider Southern food. Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for the best offerings in town. ATLANTA ATTRACTIONS
NIGHTLIFE Atlanta's best-known nightclub district is Buckhead. Buckhead is teeming with bars, restaurants, and hotels. Virginia Highlands is another good option, one that many locals choose. If you're in Athens for a Georgia football game, you will hit a bar every time you turn around. Check the Restaurants and Bars page for more info. TRANSPORTATION Traffic in Atlanta can be brutal. The town is fairly spread out, but the MARTA system can get you pretty much anywhere you need to go. Because of the traffic and parking problems, MARTA is probably your best bet when staying downtown.; there is even a station at the airport. If you're staying outside of town, or are traveling to Athens or anywhere else outside of town, you will need a car. Make sure you account for traffic when you head to the game. WEATHER They call it "Hotlanta" for a reason; Atlanta is very hot and muggy in summer, and usually remains warm in winter. The city does see its occasional freezing temperatures, so check the weather forecast before you visit. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation.
