Buckhead Bars & Restaurants

Buckhead is the most well known of Atlanta's nightspots.  There is a hard-core party atmosphere late into the night in the area.  Most of the bars are clubs, but there are a few beer joints sprinkled in.

espn.jpg (21401 bytes)The ESPNZone is a restaurant, sports bar, and arcade all rolled into one.  The food is good but slightly pricey, although the portions are large.  Not surprisingly, there are TV's everywhere to catch any game you want.

 

Buckhead Block

Buckhead Block is three bars wrapped into one.  The outdoor Key West-themed patio is open in nice weather.  Indoors you'll find the Cajun-themed Bayou Laroux's and the Go Lounge, which features live music most nights.  All three serve up good food and good microbrews.

 

Lulu's Bait Shack

Three Dollar Cafe

Three Dollar Cafe offers a wide variety of food and drinks in a festive atmosphere. The outdoor deck is the perfect compliment for the warm Atlanta climate. Sports fans gather in droves to watch big sporting events.

 

Tin Roof Cantina

Buckhead Billiards

Buckhead Billiards features plenty of pool tables and beer selections.  Its a great place to go to hang out away from the club atmosphere of the rest of the area. 

 

Fado's Irish Pub

Fado's (pronounced "F'does") is a small but quality Irish Pub right in the middle of Buckhead.  It caters to a slower crowd than the rest of the area.  It gets crowded on weekends.

 

Liquid Assets

Liquid Assets is a huge club that is packed on weekends.  The DJ's are great, and the drink prices are very reasonable for a club. 

 

 

Virginia Highlands Bars & Restaurants

Virginia Highlands is not as well known as Buckhead, but many locals consider it the only place to go.  It is located a mile or two north of downtown, about one mile east of Georgia Tech.

 

Blind Willie's

An absolutely top-notch blues club, Blind Willie's caters to blues lovers of all ages.  They do not open until 8, but stay open until 2 AM.  There is a cover charge.

 

Neighbors

Neighbors is a great neighborhood pub with both indoor and outdoor seating.  The menu is varied, and breakfast is available in the morning.

 

Dark Horse Tavern & Grill

The Dark Horse Tavern is a very popular hangout for locals and singles.  There is live music downstairs, which usually requires a cover charge.  Not open until 4, but open until 3 AM on Saturdays and 4 AM every other night.

 

Atkins Park Bar

Atlanta's oldest bar, the Atkins Park Bar has been in operation since 1922.  The food is very good, and they are open until 4 AM.

 

 

Downtown Atlanta Bars & Restaurants

There are many bars and restaurants in downtown Atlanta.  These are within walking distance of the Georgia Dome and Philips Arena.

 

Hard Rock Cafe

The Tabernacle

One of Atlanta's top concert halls, the Tabernacle has five levels with a view of the stage.  It is located a few blocks east of Philips Arena.

 

The Tap Room

The Tap Room features over 40 beers and 12 ice cold (15 degrees) martinis.  It is located in the Peachtree Center downtown.

 

 

 

Athens/U of Georgia Bars & Restaurants

Athens, located 68 miles east of Atlanta, is home to the University of Georgia.  You'll want to bring your drinking shoes if you visit for a Bulldogs football game.  The city is one big party during game weekends (not to mention non-game weekends), and the bars are packed.
