Chicago's historic Soldier Field is located on Lake Shore Drive, right on the shores of Lake Michigan just south of downtown. The stadium was built in 1923, making it the NFL's oldest stadium, but underwent a $606 million dollar renovation in 2002 and 2003.

The new Soldier Field places rows of skyboxes atop the lower level seating on one side of the field. The skyboxes amplify the crowd noise generated throughout the stadium; this effect coupled with the closeness of all the seats in the stadium make Soldier one of the NFL's loudest stadiums. The stadium has a capacity of 61,500, a few thousand smaller than the old version and the smallest in the NFL.

Soldier Field will also be home to the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer beginning with the 2004 season.
