DETROIT EVENTS

Auto Racing

Michigan Speedway hosts five major races each summer.  The NASCAR Nextel Cup holds two races, and the Busch, Truck, and IRL series each hold one race.  The speedway is located 92 miles west of Detroit.

CCHA Hockey Tournament

The CCHA Hockey Tournament is held each March at Joe Louis Arena.  Visit College Hockey at the Joe for more information.

Great Lakes Invitational Hockey Tournament

The Great Lakes Invitational is held each December at Joe Louis Arena in downtown Detroit.  The tournament always involves Michigan and Michigan State, and is a big event in Hockeytown.

Motor City Bowl

The Motor City Bowl will move to Ford Field in 2002.  The bowl game pits teams from the MAC and Big 10.
