| I have been to many cities in these United States and have been fortunate to visit Detroit on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. This city continues to get a bad rap from people that have never been there.
Interesting people, fanatic sports fans and a second to none music scene are just a few of the gems that makes this city unique. Fantastic resturants and great bars make Detroit a city worth making a roadtrip to.
Yea, there are some bad areas that should be avoided, but show me ANY big city that doesn't have the same.

| We just got back from our first trip to Detroit where we took in a couple baseball games. We've all heard plenty of negative things about Detroit, but after having been there can say that much of it is not true. We had a great time. We spent 2 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn just 2 blocks from Comerica Park. The hotel is only a few years old, in a safe location near the park and Greektown, and the staff was terrific. True some of the buildings and areas in downtown are rundown, but it is apparent that the city is on the mend. Didn't wander around too far at night, but during the day made it out to old Tiger Stadium, took a ride on the peoplemover, and ventured down to Lafayette Coneys for a delicious lunch. Regarding Comerica Park, We've been to 12 different mlb ballparks and Comerica rivals any of them, with the exception of PNC Park in Pitt. There are several fun bars around Comerica to hang out in and schmooze with the locals, the ushers are friendly, and the views from inside the ballaprk are terrific. Most importantly, the fans were the best we have ever encountered. They were knowledgable and passionate, yet friendly to us visitors. Detroit may not be Chicago, but we very much enjoyed our stay there and plan to return someday.

| I've lived in many different places here in Detroit (Hamtown, the westside, Dearborn, and in Ferndale for a while) and have traveled to 30 some odd other states, lived on the west coast in a few places, and keep coming back. Not because I coldn't handle it anywhere else, a lot of places in the country are fine and good, but detroit seems to continue to be one of our best kept secrets. The music, my god, the music, and the endless amount of exploring that can be done! There are so many facets of underground culture, and the freedom and privacy that you can find here is priceless. Sure, it's not warm in the winter and there are a lot of rednecks in the burbs, but this aint about the burbs, and it's the midwest, so it's naturally going to be a little cold in the winter and house a few supid white folks, but the auto industry here is collapsing rapidly, so a lot of the rednecks are leaving anyhow. But there is so much good, and so much style! The good looking people here are by far the best looking in the country, we are a beutiful city full of character, and all the fools from town that keep putting it down would leave if they could afford to, but insted their lazy butts just keep putting the city down and they've never accepted the good things about Detroit because they are too racist to come down here. We welcome you, just leave that funky additude at home, and get out of the car once in a while! Citys are for walking in, not just taking 75 to the Joe and going back to yo momma's arms in the burbs fool!

| Pistons, Red Wings, UofM, MSU, the Super Bowl....Great Sports to choose from. The night life was amazing. If you haven't been here (lately or never) you should make the trip. The bad wrap this city has taken is not right, at least not now.
