The Astrodome is the former home of the Houston Astros and Houston Oilers.  It was dubbed the 8th wonder of the world when it was built in 1965, as it was the world's first domed stadium.

The original plan for the Astrodome called for a grass field, which would be able to grow because of the dome's semi-transparent roof.  However, the glare was tremendous, which made life miserable for outfielders during day games.  Eventually the ceiling was painted to eliminate the glare, and Astro Turf was invented in a time of need.  This development, in the opinion of johnnyroadtrip.com, is one of the worst in sports history.

The Astrodome now serves as a convention center, part of Reliant Park.  It is located next to Reliant Stadium, about seven miles from downtown Houston.  Plenty of parking surrounds the area.
