KANSAS CITY ROYALS BASEBALL TICKETS
Games at Arrowhead Stadium are packed with fans, lending a college atmosphere to the stadium. The town is also home to the major league Royals, but fan support at Kauffman Stadium doesn't come close to the support the Chiefs receive. Kansas City is also home to Kemper Arena, which hosts the annual Big 12 men's basketball tournament, and Kansas Speedway was just built about 15 miles west of town. Opposing fans in Kansas City are treated pretty well, although if you're decked out in a Broncos or Raiders jersey you might find trouble. Kansas City will be easy on your wallet; the town is relatively inexpensive. However, if you plan to buy your Chiefs tickets from a scalper, be prepared to pay top dollar. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how others rate Kansas City!! FOOD Kansas City is known for its barbecue-style cooking. There are many restaurants specializing in steaks and barbecue. Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for the best offerings in Kansas City! KANSAS CITY ATTRACTIONS Kansas City is known as the "City of Fountains" for good reason; the town boasts more fountains than any city in the country. In fact, even Kaufman Stadium features fountains just beyond the outfield fence. The Negro League Baseball Museum is located on 18th Street downtown, and features memorabilia and exhibits on the Negro Leagues and legendary players such as Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson. For a cultural diversion, head for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, a world-class art museum located a few miles south of downtown. Kansas City also has several riverboat casinos if you're looking for some gambling action. NIGHTLIFE Westport is the center of Kansas City's nightlife scene. The area is packed with bars, most of which are open until 3 AM. Westport is located several miles south of downtown. A few blocks south of Westport is the Plaza, KC's other main restaurant and bar area. You won't find much downtown other than the River Market area. Check the Restaurants and Bars page for more info. TRANSPORTATION You will want to rent a car in Kansas City. There isn't much in the way of public transportation, and there are few cabs in town. The airport is at least a $25 cab fare from downtown, and Kauffman and Arrowhead Stadiums are eight miles from downtown. WEATHER Kansas City's weather is mild in summer and very cold in winter. Precipitation changes with the seasons; winters are fairly dry, while spring and summer can be rainy. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation.
