LOS ANGELES DODGERS BASEBALL TICKETS Los Angeles is a unique city, one of the most interesting in the country. Over 25 million people visit Los Angeles each year. Many come to see the stars and the glamour of Hollywood, while others are scoping out one of the city's four major league teams (but no football) or two major college teams. No matter what the reason you come to LA, you'll find a huge, sprawling city with something for everyone. Los Angeles is home to baseball's Dodgers, the Lakers and Clippers of the NBA, and the Kings of the NHL. The Dodgers play at Dodger Stadium, a few miles north of downtown, while the other teams share the Staples Center in the heart of the city. LA is also home to UCLA and USC, powerhouse schools in the Pac-10 conference. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how others rate Los Angeles!! NIGHTLIFE The nightlife scene in Los Angeles features some of the country's trendiest bars and clubs as well as average sports bars and pubs. Several bars pepper the downtown area near the Staples Center and the downtown hotels. There are also many college bars near UCLA in Westwood, and Long Beach has a great nightlife scene. Check the Restaurants and Bars page for more info. FOOD Los Angeles has every kind of food and cuisine you could want, from seafood and steaks to Mexican and Chinese. There are also several notable food chains in the city, such as the In-N-Out Burger and Fat Burger. Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for the best offerings in Los Angeles! LOS ANGELES ATTRACTIONS There is plenty to do in Los Angeles, no matter what you're looking for. Hollywood and the major television and movie studios are located just west of downtown LA. If you want to hit the beach, Malibu and Santa Monica are located west of downtown and Long Beach is located south of the city. Universal Studios Hollywood is a great theme park less than ten miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor is located about 30 miles northwest in Valencia. Disneyland is located in Anaheim, 31 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica has an amusement park and an historic carousel. Los Angeles has two world-class thoroughbred tracks, Santa Anita and Hollywood Park. Hollywood Park is also a casino, and there are several other casinos in the downtown area as well. See our Los Angeles gambling page for more information. TRANSPORTATION Los Angeles is a huge city, with everything completely spread out, therefore, despite the notorious traffic, a car is the generally recommended mode of transportation. The Los Angeles airport, LAX, is located less than 20 miles from downtown. If you are confining your visit to the downtown area and venues such as the Staples Center or Dodger Stadium, then you can also get by with cabs and the local subway. WEATHER The weather in Los Angeles is great, aside from the smog and haze. Temperatures are near-perfect year round, with low humidity and little rain, particularly in the summer. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation. |
