Miami Arena is located just north of downtown, between 6th and 8th Streets and 1st Ave/Arena Boulevard.  Built in 1988, the arena seats 15,200.

Miami Arena became outdated very quickly, as did many other arenas built in the 80's.  The building's original tenants, the NBA's Heat, moved to American Airlines Arena for the 2000 season.

The arena also housed the Panthers of the NHL, who moved to the BankAtlantic Center in 1998, and the University of Miami men's basketball team, which moved to the Convocation Center on campus in 2003.
