Skyline.jpg (18110 bytes)Minneapolis and St. Paul are known as the Twin Cities.  St. Paul serves as the capital of Minnesota and is home to the NHL's Wild, while Minneapolis is home to the Twins, Vikings, T-Wolves, and the U of Minnesota.

Both cities are very clean, and the locals extremely friendly.  Out-of-town fans have nothing to worry about when attending sporting events in the Twin Cities.

The Twin Cities won't break your wallet; hotel and bar prices are very reasonable for a large metro area.  The two towns, while separated by ten miles, have fairly compact downtown areas.

Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how others rate Minneapolis!!

FOOD

The food in the Twin Cities is about average.  No particular cuisine really stands out, although there are plenty of good restaurants.  Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for more information.

TWIN CITIES ATTRACTIONS

mallhomeplate2.jpg (20569 bytes)The Mall of America is located south of Minneapolis in Bloomington.  The mall is the largest in the nation, with shops on four huge levels; it also has a marker where home plate of old Metropolitan Stadium was.  There are several bars and restaurants in the mall as well, plus an amusement park.

The new Science Museum of Minnesota is located in downtown St. Paul.  Valley Fair Amusement Park is located in Shakopee, southwest of Minneapolis.

If you're looking for some culture, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts is located in downtown Minneapolis.  Additionally, the Twin Cities are home to more opera and theatre seats per capita than any city other than New York.  Click here for theatre info.

Canterbury Park offers live horse racing and a card club; see our gambling page for more info.

NIGHTLIFE

Minneapolis's nightlife is centered around the Warehouse District, near the Target CenterUptown is a good night-time area as well.  St. Paul also offers plenty of bars.

Check the Restaurants  and Bars page for more info.

TRANSPORTATION

Minneapolis and St. Paul are compact and easy to get around in.  There isn't much public transportation, but cabs are available.  Skyways keep you off the streets in the cold and snowy winter months.

If you are heading to the Mall of America, or to the track or a casino, you'll want a rental car.  About ten miles separate St. Paul from Minneapolis, so getting between them is an affordable cab ride, but if you do it several times you may as well get a car.

WEATHER

Minnesota is one of the coldest states in the US.  The Twin Cities get very cold and snowy, while summers are mild.  Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation.
