Knoxville is located in eastern Tennessee, just north of
Great Smoky Mountain
National Park. With a population of 173,000, it is Tennessee's
third-largest city.
The University of Tennessee is located in downtown Knoxville, on the
banks of the Tennessee River. Neyland
Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena are located on campus, right on
the river.
The two main areas for bars and restaurants are the Strip, located
near the stadium, and Old City, about a mile or two from campus.
Old City has a somewhat older crowd, while the Strip is the heart of the
college nightlife scene.
