New Orleans offers both casino gambling and horse racing.  There is a Harrah's casino right outside the French Quarter.  There is also a Bally's riverboat casino on Lake Pontchartrain a few miles north of downtown.

Baton Rouge has two casinos, the Argosy Casino and the Casino Rouge.  Both offer slots and numerous table games.

If you want some horse racing action, check out the Fair Grounds during a race meet.  The track's biggest race is the Louisiana Derby, a Kentucky Derby prep race held every March.
