OAKLAND ATHLETICS BASEBALL TICKETS
Oakland is home to the NFL's Raiders and baseball's Athletics, both of whom play at McAfee Coliseum just south of downtown. The Golden State Warriors of the NBA play at the adjacent Arena in Oakland. A few miles north of Oakland is Berkeley, home to the University of California and Golden Gate Fields racetrack. Infineon Raceway is located in Sonoma, 40 miles north. Neighboring San Francisco is home to the 49ers and Giants. See our San Francisco page for more information. If you travel to Oakland for a Raiders game, it is not advisable to wear opposing team colors. There have been numerous incidents over the years involving visiting fans. As in most places, the vast majority of Oakland fans are very friendly, but a few feel the need to cause trouble for visiting fans. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how others rate Oakland!! NIGHTLIFE With the exception of Jack London Square, the Oakland nightlife is fairly spread out. The square has the largest concentration of bars, but others can be found all over the city. Check the Restaurants and Bars page for more info. FOOD Oakland doesn't really have a signature cuisine. The best location for restaurants is Jack London Square on the waterfront. Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for the best offerings in Oakland! OAKLAND ATTRACTIONS Oakland has a few options to fill your weekend. Jack London Square is a shopping and restaurant area on the waterfront near downtown Oakland. Golden Gate Fields racetrack is located in Albany, just west of Berkeley on the bay. San Francisco is just across the Bay Bridge, and offers many other sights and attractions. TRANSPORTATION Oakland is fairly compact and easy to get around in. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) makes it easy to get around the entire region. The Oakland airport is located just a few miles from downtown, and very close to the coliseum and arena. If you plan to go to San Francisco, plan to pay a lot for parking. It may be easier and cheaper to simply take the BART across the bay, even if you do rent a car. WEATHER Oakland has a very mild climate, with temperatures into the 80's in summer, and as low as the 40's in winter. Summers are very dry, while the winter months bring rain. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation. |
