Lincoln Financial Field is the home of the Philadelphia
Eagles. The stadium opened in 2003 and seats 68,532.
Lincoln Financial Field is located a few miles south of Center
City. It shares a parking lot with the
Wachovia Center and Spectrum as
well as Citizens Bank Park.
The stadium replaced Veterans Stadium,
which lacked amenities and had a horrible playing surface, but also was
one of the league's louder stadiums and made the Eagles tough to beat at
home. The stadium features a grass surface.
The Vet was known as a tough place for visiting teams, and "The
Linc"
has become that as well. The stadium features a courtroom to expedite
disorderly conduct cases during football games, and the court is
usually busy.
Parking surrounds the stadium in vast lots, although construction on
the Citizens Bank Park has limited the number of spaces available; it is
advisable to arrive early.
Tailgating is abundant before Eagles games.
The best (and only) bar near the stadium is Legends.
It is located in the
Holiday Inn, and is worth checking out before the
game if you aren't tailgating.
