The University of Pittsburgh is located in the neighborhood of Oakland, a few miles east of downtown Pittsburgh.  The school plays in the Big East conference for both football and basketball.

Panther football is played at brand-new Heinz Field downtown.  See the Heinz Field page for more information.

The Pittsburgh basketball team competes on-campus at the Petersen Events Center, which opened in 2002 and seats 12,500.
