Stanford, CA is home to Stanford University. Located 31 miles
southeast of San Francisco and 15 miles west of San Jose, the
Stanford/Palo Alto area is home to about 65,000 residents.
The area is home to Stanford University, a bastion of higher
education with an excellent overall athletic program. The school
wins the Directors Cup, a measure of athletic success in many different
men's and women's sports, seemingly every year. The Stanford
basketball team plays at Maples Pavilion, the football team at huge
