SEATTLE MARINERS BASEBALL TICKETS
Seattle is home to the NFL's Seahawks, baseball's Mariners, and the NBA's Sonics. All three teams play very close to downtown; the Seahawks moved into brand-new Qwest Field in 2002, and the Mariners have one of baseball's newest stadiums, Safeco Field. The Sonics play at modern Key Arena, located in Seattle Center. The city is also home to the University of Washington, located east of downtown. Seattle is not overly expensive for a large city, and the natives are a very friendly bunch. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how others rate Seattle!! FOOD Seattle has excellent seafood. There are first-class restaurants all over town serving up the day's fresh catch. Although seafood is the signature cuisine of Seattle, you can find any type of food you're looking for. Check out the Restaurants and Bars page for the best offerings in Seattle! SEATTLE ATTRACTIONS Seattle's most well known attraction is the Space Needle. Built for the 1962 World's Fair, the Space Needle features an observation deck 520 feet above ground. The Experience Music Project is located next to the Space Needle, and showcases the history of Seattle's rich musical tradition. The Seattle Aquarium, located just south of Seattle Center, showcases many forms of marine life. Pioneer Square and the Pike Place Market are located in the downtown area and offer shopping and entertainment. There are several casinos in or near Seattle. For more information, see our gambling page. If you're in town during the summer, you can catch horse racing at Emerald Downs in nearby Auburn. NIGHTLIFE Seattle has bars clustered all over town. If you're heading to a game (or even if you're not), you'll want to check out the bars around Safeco Field and Qwest Field, or the Key Arena/Seattle Center area. The Fremont neighborhood is also an excellent locale for bar hopping. If you're looking for downtown convenience, head to Pioneer Square. Check the Restaurants and Bars page for more info. TRANSPORTATION Seattle's downtown area is very compact; all three teams play very close to downtown, while the U of Washington is seven miles east. The airport is 15 miles from downtown. If you plan on staying in the downtown area, you probably won't want a rental car. If you're going to be driving to the U of W, or to Tacoma or other outlying towns, a rental car will be necessary. Seattle has a limited monorail system, but there are plenty of cabs to get you around. WEATHER Seattle gets a lot of rain, to say the least. Although the summers are reasonably dry, the rest of the year seems to be rainy every day. The good news is the temperature is very mild, ranging from the upper 30's in winter to the 70's in summer. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation. |
