ST. LOUIS CARDINALS BASEBALL TICKETS The Gateway to the West is a great town for a road trip. The locals are die-hard sports fans, and on game day everyone shows their colors. St. Louis is a particularly good baseball town; Busch Stadium is always packed and the fans know their stuff. St. Louis is a big city with much to offer, but has a small town feel to it. The airport is about a 15-minute ride from downtown, and all the local attractions are within a few miles of each other. The Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, and Edward Jones Dome, as well as the most popular bar area (Laclede's Landing) and riverboat gambling, are separated by only a few blocks. St. Louis hotels are not too expensive; the town overall is inexpensive compared to other major cities. Check out JOHNNY ON THE SPOT to see how others rate St. Louis!! FOOD Although there are many Italian Food restaurants around the city, St. Louis isn't really known for any specific type of cuisine. The food is good throughout the city, and of varying types. See our Restaurants and Bars page for more info. ST. LOUIS ATTRACTIONS The Gateway Arch is the one of the nation's most famous landmarks. It is located right on the Mississippi River a few blocks from downtown. St. Louis is also home to the Anheuser-Busch brewing company; tours are available. The Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum is just across the street from Busch Stadium, located inside the International Bowling Museum. There is also a Six Flags amusement park about 25 miles southwest of the city. St. Louis Union Station is a century-old train station that has been converted into a marketplace. It is located a few blocks from the Scottrade Center. Additionally, there are riverboats offering casino gambling docked in the Mississippi. See our Gambling page for more info. NIGHTLIFE The St. Louis bar scene is centered around Laclede's Landing, right on the Mississippi. There are also plenty of bars just a few blocks away in the downtown area. Check the Restaurants and Bars page for more info. TRANSPORTATION If you're staying downtown, which is about 15 minutes from the airport, St. Louis does not require a rental car. You can walk or take a cab anywhere in the downtown area, including the stadiums, and not have parking to worry about. The city's MetroLink train can get you from the riverfront to Scottrade Center in a few minutes. If you are staying in the outlying suburbs, you will spend a lot of money on cabs to downtown, so a rental car is probably the way to go. WEATHER St. Louis enjoys a mild climate for most of the year. It can get very hot, but the area is not very humid. There are a few days of snow each year. Check the City Weather page for historical temperatures and precipitation. |
