How do you score tickets to the Super Bowl? You can always show up at the stadium the day of the game and check the scalper's market. Prices will vary greatly depending on the game, but typically will run into the thousands. At Super Bowl XXXV in Tampa in 2001, johnnyroadtrip.com was offered $3,000 for one ticket, but tickets for Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans were selling for less than face value. At Super Bowl XL in 2006, tickets were into the thousands as Pittsburgh fans traveled in droves to the game.

Another way to get tickets is to own season tickets for one of the participants. The two competing teams each receive close to 20% of the tickets, and distribute many of them to their own ticket holders. The host city gets about 8% of the total tickets; if you are a season ticket holder of the host team, you may qualify for tickets.

The NFL controls 25% of the tickets to the game. You can enter the NFL's random ticket drawing by requesting tickets in writing. All requests must be sent via certified or registered mail, and are limited to one request per address. Additionally, requests are accepted only between February 1 and June 1 of the year preceding the game.

Flights into the city are generally available until the teams are decided, or at least until after the divisional playoff games; then flights from the cities that might be involved start to fill up and rise in cost.

Transportation around a Super Bowl city is more difficult than during normal periods. Cabs can become scarce, traffic is bad, and things are generally annoying.
