US Open Information

An inside view of Arthur Ashe StadiumThe US Open tennis tournament is held each August and September at the USTA National Tennis Center in New York City, specifically Flushing, in the borough of Queens.

The tournament is the final event of tennis's Grand Slam, the others being the Australian Open (held in January in Melbourne), the French Open (held in Paris in May), and Wimbledon (held in London in June).

The US National Tennis Center's Arthur Ashe StadiumLouis Armstrong Stadium at the US National Tennis CenterThe Open is a unique event for several reasons.  It is the only major to have been contested on clay, grass, and a hard surface, with Jimmy Connors being the only player to win on all three.  It also features huge temperature swings, with the August heat getting up to 120 on the surface during the day, and then dropping to the 50's at night.  Additionally, the New York crowd is certainly the most boisterous tennis crowd you'll find; they appreciate good tennis, and are not afraid to loudly back their favorites.
