Barbecued Chicken

BBQ chicken is a traditional favorite requiring patient cooking skills and a willingness to get your hands a little greasy. When cooking chicken on the grill, it is essential not to burn the chicken, so keep a close eye on it.

Ingredients:

• Chicken parts

• BBQ Sauce

• Salt, pepper, & garlic

Steps:

• Optional marinade: For extra flavorful chicken, marinate for a few hours or overnight in a sealable bag of BBQ sauce, vegetable oil or light olive oil, and salt, pepper, garlic, and whatever other spices you want to throw in (onion powder, Old Bay, parsley, etc). You can bring the bag right to the tailgate.

• Place chicken on the grill and season with salt, pepper, & garlic

• Grill your chicken over low or indirect heat with the grill covered

• Turn after 5-10 minutes, depending on heat, and season

• After another 5-10 minutes, brush each side with BBQ sauce

• Check for doneness by looking for clear (instead of red) juice, or by cutting open a piece at its thickest point.
